Summary
In this episode of the Mama Bear Apologetics podcast, Hillary, Amy and Alexa analyze the animated movie KPop Demon Hunters using their ROAR method: Recognize the message, Offer objective discernment, Argue for a healthier approach, and Reinforce through discussion, discipleship, and prayer. With the film gaining popularity among teens and younger audiences, they break down the worldview behind the catchy music, vibrant visuals, and overarching narrative. They highlight both accurate portrayals of spiritual warfare and problematic messages such as redefining sin, the role and reality of the demonic and fighting shame with pride…which is counter to the Gospel. There are loads of theological issues with the film, but that’s to be expected. More importantly there is a very subversive undertone that could entice your children into downplaying the danger of or even inviting the demonic into their lives.

Do you have talking points for discussion with teens after watching the movie?
Stay tuned for our upcoming blog to help with discussing the movie. In the meantime, check out @marinattolentino (Oahu realtor + Mom Life) on TikTok if you can. Marina created an awesome discussion guide for parents and you can send her a message to request one. Link here.
Hi! What resources do you recommend for dads who want help/training for disciplining their kids? Appreciate your help!
Honestly, the mama bear apologetics is just as much for dads as it is for moms. Get yourself some camo duck tape and cover the front and back, and then give it back to the hubs. 🙂 Secondly, I think that any resource that talks about how dads can have a better marriage and a warm relationshipo with their children is a good resource for dads. People often form their views about God from their experience with their earthly fathers. He can have all the best theology in the world, but if he doesn’t know how to create a safe space for his wife and kids, the message is lost. I hope that helps!

My daughters father took my child to see this movie and. I didn’t have a say in it. I didn’t want her to watch it and he did it anyway. What do I do
This is exactly why we did this podcast and blog. We recommend having the conversations with her to ROAR through it! We can’t protect them from everything, so we need to help them think through it well. That is actually much more effective than just always sheltering (depending on the kid and the age)
